What is recorded here
Crannog islands were ancient lake houses, and this is one in Lislea, County Fermanagh. People may have stood in reeds, tended fires or watched rain move across the water while the land around them disappeared. The name remains uncertain, but the shape of the place is clear: a small island holding a life that the lake has since swallowed.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as ISLAND, possibly CRANNOG. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
