Structure

A small, irregular spread (L 1.26m; Wth 0.77m; D 0.06m min.) of light brushwood, branch material and woodchips on the field surface. A vertical post (diam. 0.078m), is also recorded 0.3m to the W. One of the pieces has a degraded wedge point. The wood was identified as alder and willow and is present within poorly humified Sphagnum peat containing Eriophorum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
