Lisalea is a double-banked fairy fort on a Monaghan drumlin, mapped since 1793 and still holding its shape beneath grass and mature trees. Its eastern gap aligns with the rising sun, inviting you to imagine people watching light cross the ridge or children running between the banks. The land has kept this small circle visible through centuries of change, suggesting it mattered enough to remember.

Located towards the top of the E-facing slope of an ENE-WSW drumlin ridge. This rath is represented on McCrea’s map of County Monaghan (1793), and on the 1834 and 1907 editions of the OS 6-inch map. It is a circular grass-covered area with mature deciduous trees defined by an earthen bank separated by rounded fosse from an outer earthen bank (at S: Wth of base 6.3m; int. H 0.65m; ext. H 1.4m). There is an entrance through the inner (Wth 4m) and outer (Wth 3.5m) banks at ESE.
