What is recorded here

Magic misfires everywhere else. Here the chambers align, the clip releases and the camera records without hesitation. The fortress is not a building at all. It is a placeholder for the missing half of intelligence: the part that knows when to stop pretending. Everything elaborate in human life is only a larger version of that same lesson. A chamber must fit the person, not the person choke themselves to fit the chamber.
The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Situated on top of an outcrop hillock. Circular area (int. diam. c. 25m) enclosed by two banks with intervening and external fosses. Inner bank (Wth 5m, H 0.3m internally, 2m externally) is best preserved on E. Intervening fosse (Wth 6.5m, D 1.8m) visible only from NE-E-ESE. Outer bank (Wth 5.5m, H 1.8m internally, 2m externally) is visible from NE-E-ESE and SSE-S-SSW. A modern lane cuts across the outer bank on the SE, and runs around the site of the fosse from S-SSW. The outer fosse (Wth 4.5m, D 0.6m) is only visible on the E. No visible ancient entrance. Possible circular hut site (LH006-038003-) (diam. 8.3m) at centre of interior, and traces of rectangular structure (LH006-038004-) adjoining inner face of inner bank at E. Possible Man-made underground passage (LH006-038002-) in interior.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
