Dromore Castle

Dromore Castle rose in the 1860s when Godwin built a Gothic keep for the third Earl of Limerick, placing rooms above a rocky outcrop that still reflects in Dromore Lake. The abandoned shell keeps its brass, ironwork and painted details, while damp once stopped wall painting and forced brick lining behind the stone. Its northern-facing rooms sacrificed warmth for view, a choice that fits the dream-like edge of the wood where the castle still stands empty and watching the water.
