What is recorded here

Indicated is a circular earthen fort on a drumlin slope in County Longford, marked as a fort on the 1837 Ordnance Survey map. Its fifty-two metre ring still holds a southeast gap wide enough for a person to step through, while the rest has become a field bank or shallow scarp. No ditch remains, but the shape suggests people once drew a line around themselves on that slope and waited to be seen.

On the NE-facing slope of a drumlin. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised circular area (diam. c. 52m) defined from E-S-WSW by a bank, which has been incorporated into a field bank, and elsewhere by a scarp (H 1.2-1.5m). There is no trace of a fosse.
