Structure

A dispersed band (Wth 4.82m; D 0.28m) of brushwood (diam. 0.012-0.055m) predominantly orientated E-W in the drain face. Metal-cut toolmarks and branch-trimming are noted on a number of pieces. Wood species include hazel, alder and willow. The wood is spread across a number of peat strata and does not represent a single-period deposit. A fragment of Medieval shoe leather (92E148:32) was recovered from the field surface adjacent to this site. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
