Structure

A deposit of six pieces (Wth 0.72m; D 0.08m min.) of brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.056m) and occasional twigs in the drain face. The site runs below the water level in the drain. All pieces are orientated N-S. Evidence for woodworking is confined to two displaced pieces of brushwood. Wood species include oak, alder and hazel. The site sits in well-humified Sphagnum peat containing some small, unidentified leaves. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
