Pollnagran is the only stream cave known in County Roscommon, stretching 750 metres through ancient limestone. Water still moves through its dark chambers, carving the rock that hid the cave from most people until recent exploration. The county appears flat and ordinary above ground, but beneath the soil a busy underground river has been cutting its path for millennia.
