What is recorded here

Indicated is a ruined fairy fort in County Cork, Ireland. Its earthen bank still stands one point four metres high along the west and north-west edge, while the rest has flattened into grass and memory. The fort may have held a family, a herdsman or a child who played at the edge of the world.

In rough grazing land, on E-facing slope. Depicted on 1842 OS 6-inch map as circular area (diam. c. 32m) defined by hachured bank SSE->NNW and by broken line elsewhere. Arc (C 25m) formed by earthen bank (H 1.4m) survives SW->NW, with heavily overgrown fosse on W side. Low rise along line of levelled bank to N. Interior slightly raised.
