What is recorded here

Lackagh Beg holds a U-shaped enclosure thirty metres long on a south-facing slope, its ditch stretching sixty metres before fading into pasture. The 1838 map missed it entirely, yet the 1939 chart captured the raised earth and open northeast mouth facing Rathwalkin. That absence on the earlier chart does not diminish the site; it reveals how easily human hands reshape land beyond immediate measurement. The enclosure still exists beneath grass and memory, waiting for someone to walk its hidden line.

On a S-facing slope in improved pasture. Although not recorded on the 1st ed. (1838) of the OS 6-inch map, the site is shown on the latest ed. (1939) as a raised, U-shaped area (est. max. dims. L c. 30m NE-SW; Wth c. 25m) NE-S-NNW, ‘open’ towards the NE and ‘Rathwalkin’ (KD022-021----) c. 300m to the NE, girdled by a fosse, the W-edge of which is shown extending NE past the W-edge of the raised area (est. traceable L c. 60m).
