Armorial plaque in Knocktophermanor

Armorial plaque

What is recorded here

Knocktophermanor holds an Ormond coat of arms on a stone plaque, moved from Garrison Castle into the north wall of St. David's Graveyard. The Ormond name and Latin inscription still mark the wall, though the plaque has changed places. What is recorded is not a hidden chamber or a new claim, but a stone banner carried from one building to another.
This record relates to the original location of an armorial plaque. One of two armorial plaques, originally from 'Garrison Castle' (KK031-017002-), inserted in the external face of the north wall of St. David's Graveyard (KK031-017006-) and bearing the Ormond coat of arms and a Latin inscription. (Farrelly et al. 1993, vol. 1, 179) See KK031-017020- for present location. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 21 December 2011
