Ogham stone in Knockshanawee

One of six ogham stones (also CO072-078004-, CO072-078005-, CO072-078006-, CO072-078007-, CO072-078008-) used in the construction of a Man-made underground passage (CO072-078002-). Discovered in 1910 and now on permanent display in the Stone Corridor, University College Cork (See CO074-138----). This stone (1.95m; 0.5m x 0.2m) formed the innermost lintel. Both Power (1932, 21, no. 21) and Macalister (1945, 112, no. 112) gave the inscription as MICANAVVI MAQ LUGUNI; McManus (2004, 22-3, no. 27) could only make out uCANAVVI MA[] L[ ]N. McManus adds that if Macalister's reading LUGUNI is correct, the man recorded here may be a brother of the man recorded on the adjacent stone (CO072-078004-) in the Man-made underground passage.
