What is recorded here

Knocknacolan holds a five-metre earthen ring where a forgotten second wall once curved beyond the main bank. The interior rises on the north side to defeat the slope, while three breaks in the rim admit rain, wind and the odd wandering thought. People may have lived inside, tended goats or simply watched the valley tilt. The stones never spoke, but the shape still insists that someone valued the view enough to build a boundary around it.

In pasture, on N-facing slope. Circular area (52m E-W; 50m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.42m; ext. H 1.9m); external fosse survives as slight slope down to base of bank. Break in bank to SSE, SSW and NNW. Interior raised on N side to compensate for hillslope. On 1842 OS 6-inch map second hachured bank to N and E, concentric with inner bank, continues to S beyond enclosure, curving in opposite direction.
