What is recorded here

Knockereen holds a vanished cashel, its thirty-metre circle swallowed by scrub and a later field wall. Only an eastern rubble arc and a hidden underground passage remain, suggesting the fort still breathes beneath the ordinary ground. People may have lived, hidden or worshipped there before the wall erased the shape, but the earth kept the chamber while the skyline forgot the name.

In scrub and rock outcrop. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (D c. 30m) overlain throughout by a field wall. Apart from an arc of rubble at E, inside of which is a Man-made underground passage (GA056-101001-), no visible surface trace survives. The monument was probably a cashel.
