What is recorded here

Knockaloura East holds two forts, one hundred metres apart, as if people refused to leave the first empty. The older circle has given up most of its shape to grass and fields, but a flat mound still marks the house where someone lived, loved and died before records began. The fairies may have taken the name, yet human hands built the banks and dug the ditch.

Circa 100m W of a ringfort (GA030-081----). Poorly preserved subcircular ringfort (E-W 41m, N-S 39m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is present from SE through W to N and is overlain by a field wall from SE to SW. A scarp forms the enclosing element from N to SE. Traces of outer stone-facing survive at S. The fosse and outer bank are visible intermittently throughout. Within the interior is a subrectangular mound of earth and stone (N-S; L 7m, Wth 6m) with a central depression (D 2m), probably a house.
