What is recorded here

Knockaloura East holds a broken ring where quarrying bit into the north-west, yet a small circular house remains intact in the northern grass. The fort is not a grand castle or a clean complete circle; it is a tilted oval of earth, scarped bank and fading fosse, with one room still round enough to picture. A person may have stood inside that room, looked across the rolling Galway field and known the place by the feel of its edges rather than the pride of its size.

On a rise in rolling grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (N-S 22m, E-W 16m) defined by a bank and external fosse. The bank is present intermittently from E through S to SW; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. The fosse survives from NW through N to NNE. Quarrying has encroached upon the monument at NW. In N sector of the interior is a well-preserved circular house (D 5.4m) defined by a grassed-over bank of stone with opposing entrance gaps at E and W.
