Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Knockalaghta (wills), County Roscommon, Ireland. It appears as a subcircular embanked enclosure measuring roughly 40 by 35 metres on the 1837 and 1927 Ordnance Survey maps. The site sits atop a broad, low hill but no longer shows at ground level in the pasture.
Marked as a subcircular embanked enclosure (ext. dims c. 40m x c. 35m) on the 1837 and 1927 eds of the OS6-inch map, and situated on top of a broad, low hill. It is not visible at ground level in pasture but it was probably a rath. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
