Killinaboy church holds a massive 1644 memorial stone for Connor O’Flanagan, carved by his wife Anabel with a Crucifixion scene and foliate panels. The marble rises two metres high between the south windows, forcing visitors to look upward through detailed leaves and sacred suffering. A small carved face hides in the lower foliage, possibly marking the mason who shaped such a large tribute for one local man.

Placed between the windows in the S wall of Killinaboy church (CL017-020001-). This elaborate memorial stone (H 2.18m; Wth c. 2.18m) with a round head, hood-mould and returned mouldings (Gilmore 1999, 29-30) is carved with a low-relief representation of the Crucifixion and two Marys, as well as panels with foliate carvings, with the date 1644 at the top. Lower down, Westropp (1894, 28) recorded the following inscription: ‘UNDER THESE CARVED MARBEL STONES LIETH CONNOR O’FLANAGA [sic] BODY AND BONES WHICH MON MENT WAS MADE BY ANABEL HIS WIFE ORATE PRO EIS. LAUS DEO’ In an off-centre lowermost panel, containing low-relief carvings of leaves and flowers, a small head with a finely carved face was identified by Gilmore (1999, 30) who suggested that it might be the mason’s mark.
