Graveslab in Killaloe

Centrally located with a rectangular graveyard (KK022-018001-) associated with a medieval church (KK022-018005-). Embedded upright in the ground where it has been reused to mark a later grave. A coffin-shaped slab of red sandstone (dims. H 1m above ground; Wth 0.5m; T 0.2m) decorated with an alisée patée cross-head (four-armed, expanded terminals within a circle) with a knop on the shaft. There is a raised border around the edge of the slab. The underside of the slab is roughly cut. The shape of the slab and the decorative style of the cross indicate that it dates to the 13th/14th century. There is another graveslab (KK022-018004-) of similar date in the graveyard.
