Structure

A oak roundwood (L 0.35m; diam. 0.08m) near the base of the drain. The piece bears possible evidence for branch-trimming but discrete toolmarks are not noted. It sits in moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1993. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
