Grave Yd.

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Grave Yd. is a Roman Catholic graveyard in County Leitrim, Ireland, occupying a low south-facing knoll where earthen banks and hedges enclose the dead except along a northern masonry wall beside a roadway. The subrectangular plot stretches twenty to forty metres north-south and forty to sixty metres east-west, large enough for generations but small enough that every burial remains close to the living road. Rain may have softened the banks and wind may have trimmed the hedges, yet the wall still marks the boundary between passing traffic and permanent rest.
Situated on a low knoll of a general S-facing slope. The Roman Catholic church (LE018-028001-) is in a subrectangular graveyard (dims c. 20-40m N-S; c. 40-60m E-W) defined by earthen banks and hedges on all sides, except at N where there is a masonry wall adjacent to an ENE-WSW roadway.
