William H Walsh, 1915-1999, commissioned the restoration of Ormonde Stables and Butler House for the Government of Ireland, preserving both in County Kilkenny. He also founded Kilkenny Design Workshops in 1963 and chaired them until retiring in 1976. His name still marks the place where craft and memory were carried forward.
