Castlegannon

Castlegannon is a church site in County Kilkenny whose name fuses a castle with a Gaelic personal name, hinting that secular and sacred power once shared the same ground. The exact church, patron and building are no longer recorded, but the region held dense early Christian and medieval ecclesiastical life before Anglo-Norman settlers reshaped Leinster.
