References to variations of Kildanoge, such as 'Kildonoke; Kildonocke; Kildownoke; Killedonyke; Kildonoggie; Killdonogie; Killdunogy' appear in the Calendar of Ormond Deeds, the Calendar of fiants, the Calendar of patent rolls and the Civil Survey from 1508 to 1654 (Ó Cearbhaill 2007, 122). Power (1908, 17) translates Kildanoge as 'St. Domnoc's Church'. According to Power (1905, 116) the church 'stood on the spot now occupied by the most westerly of the two or three houses adjoining the crossing-place of our ancient road over the Tar'.
