Kilcoran is where a circular mound, twelve metres across and nearly three metres high, held a large quantity of human bones until men levelled it around 1850. It stood south of the ringfort, dense enough to resist forgetting and strange enough to stop a plough. The bones may have belonged to neighbours, travellers or victims of a forgotten fever. Whatever they were, they stopped moving when the soil closed over them.

Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 341) refers to a mound, to S of ringfort (LA028-057003-), which was circular, '40 ft. in diameter (c. 12m) and 9 ft. high (c. 2.7m)'. A Neolithic passage tomb; partially excavated in the 19th century, it is significant as an example of early megalithic funerary architecture in the region.
