Kilcooly North holds a horseshoe of fire-shattered stone beside a small stream, marking a place where heat and water collided repeatedly. The mound stretches twenty-one metres through boggy land, its incurved front facing the church field still named nearby. People may have gathered there to cook, clean or transform ordinary things with flame. The stones remain broken and dark, preserving the violence of that repeated work.

This site is situated in boggy land. To the NW lies a field known locally as church field (950). This horseshoe-shaped mound lies W of a small stream. Its overall dimensions are 10m NE-SW, c21m NW- SE, and 1m high. The incurved front of the mound faces NW. Burnt and fire-shattered stones can dearly be seen. The above description is derived from C.
