Danish Fort in Kilclare Upper has vanished beneath pasture, leaving only a hidden circle on a high plateau above the river Bride. Scalé drew it in 1773, yet no wall or ditch remains for hands to touch. A neighbour rath sits 120m west with a possible underground passage, suggesting the plateau once held more than grass. The fort may have been small, temporary or erased by ploughs, but its name survived the loss of its shape.

In pasture, on a high plateau overlooking the valley of the river Bride. Indicated as a circular enclosure, named 'Danish Fort', on a 1773-4 map (no. 6) by B. Scalé (NLI MSS 7216-18). It is not visible at ground level. A rath (CO045-029----), similarly depicted on the Scalé map, is located 120m to the WNW and has an associated possible Man-made underground passage (CO045-128----).
