Flesk Castle stood in County Kerry as a Georgian Gothic country house built for John Coltsman between 1809 and 1815. Its angular towers, battlemented edges and colourful ashlar blocks created a playful mansion rather than a defensive fortress. Dismantled around 1950, the ruin still preserves a courtyard gateway, turret folly and fragments of a serpentine lime avenue where private ambition once defied ordinary sense.
