Man-made underground passage in Keeas

This Man-made underground passage, not marked on the OS maps, is located at the edge of a level terrace in land that otherwise slopes down fairly steeply towards the Caragh river at S. It was blocked up in the 1960s, but is still remembered locally as a drystone-built structure with 'steps leading down into a passage'. The field in which it is located is known located as 'Gort na hÓn' (Ó Cíobháin 1978, 61). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
