What is recorded here

Indicated is a substantial earthen ringfort on a low Mayo ridge, its broad bank rising two and a half metres at the western edge while hawthorn and blackthorn still mark the perimeter. Two boulders sit inside the eastern breach like silent guards, flanking what may have been the entrance, and a shallow depression outside the north wall suggests an older fosse later reused as a farm track. The fort feels less like a ruined monument than a living boundary, where pasture, fence and ancient earth have blended until no one remembers where human ownership began or fairy claim ended.
In pasture, located on top of a low ridge, with gradual fall of ground to W. Raised circular area (42.4m N–S; 41.4m E–W) enclosed by a substantial, compact earthen bank (Wth 4m at W; 6.2m at W; int. H 1.1m at E; 0.85m at W; ext. H 1.6m at E; 2.7m at W). At SW–SE the external scarp of the bank is incorporated into a property fence. Immediately outside the bank at NW–NE there is a depression (Wth 3m; D 1m). This serves as a farm track but it may have reused an earlier fosse. The track extends to W towards a farmstead. The rath interior is level except for a slight dip towards the E where there is a low or eroded area (Wth c. 2m) in the bank which may indicate the original entrance. The break in the bank is flanked in the interior by two boulders, set 1.6m apart and c. 1.5m back from the inner face of the bank. A low kerb-like setting of stones extends 3m to N of the N most boulder. The perimeter is ringed with hawthorn, blackthorn and ash; the interior is grassy, with clumps of blackthorn at NE.
