Situated in a slight natural hollow in gently undulating terrain. Square enclosure (dims. 30m x 30m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.5m; H 0.9-1.2m) and an external flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 6.5m; D 1.7-2.5m) except at the NE angle where the bank is levelled. The moat is fed by a leat from a stream at the N side (Simpson 1994, 216). The interior is level and featureless, with no indication of an entrance.
