What is recorded here

Situated at a break in a steep E-facing slope overlooking Luggala Lake. Conjoined hut sites (WI012-024---- and WI012-024001-) consisting of two level platforms. Both are defined at E and W sides by steep scarps. The smaller is roughly circular (dims. 8.6m E-W; 7m N-S) and has a revetment of stones and small boulders at the W which continues, in the form of a low bank, on the N and S sides. The entrance is between two boulders at the S. The second hut is immediately NE and downslope of the first. It is D-shaped (dims. 13.5m N-S; 6.7m E-W) and has a discontinuous revetment of stones and small boulders at the W. Access is by means of a level path entering from the S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
