Mud still clings to the castle roots though the main house vanished decades ago. The gate tower stands alone on Howth Road, its round arch wide enough for a cart and tall enough to watch the cart pass. Built around 1450 and touched again in 1738, it kept a shape of entry and judgement long after the rooms that needed keeping stopped existing.
Attached single-bay three-storey rubble stone gate tower, c.1450, with round-headed integral carriageway to ground floor. Renovated 1738. Now partly derelict.
