House

At the SE end of Inishbofin, on a high level terrace on the S-facing slope of Knock Hill. Recorded by Mr. M. Gibbons, this circular house site (diam. 10m) is defined by a stone wall that is covered with a thin mantle of peat. A well-defined entrance gap is visible at E. The enclosing wall incorporates a number of large boulders in its make-up and possibly some underlying rock outcrop at S. A long N-S running field wall is visible to the W of the house and another similar wall runs downslope from it to the SE. The house is clearly visible on current aerial imagery - see OSi digitalglobe 2011-2013. Another similar house site (see GA009D045----) lies c. 300m to the SW. The following image was provided by M.
