No.36 Thomas Street is a mid-terrace five-bay three-storey brick former mansion, an early example in the city of Palladian architecture, probably the work of an architect. The building measures c.12.5m wide and c.12.5m in height to parapet, with a flat roof, rendered front and rear façades (render to front façade was recently removed), and a replacement shopfront at ground level. Built c.1715, refurbished c.1886, reconfigured c.1937-42, and currently undergoing works as part of a student housing development (2018).
