Cashel in County Leitrim hid a holy well so complete it vanished from every map and memory. People still whispered about the water in the 1940s, yet no saint stood behind it and no stone marked the hole. The earth kept its own secret, denying the well to surveyors and forgetting it before they could draw a line.

There was reputed to be a holy well at Cashel but no saint was associated with it in the 1940s (Blaney 1944, 129), it is not recorded on an estate map (Wogan 1750, 2) or any OS 6-inch map and its location is unknown. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 6 January 2020
