What is recorded here

Enclosure in Heath, County Carlow: possibly a ringfort, c. 40m wide, enclosed by a bank, no visible surface traces. It may have been a home or refuge, its walls long since levelled by rain and plough, yet the shape of it still turns the mind, a circle drawn in earth now forgotten.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Shown on 1908 'OS 6-inch' map as circular area enclosed by bank (max. diam. c. 40m). No visible surface traces. Possibly a ringfort.
