Burial ground in Gubanummera

Burial ground

What is recorded here

Gubanummera in County Leitrim contains two unidentified fields named Caldragh, a word meaning burial ground. The name appeared in local writing around 1943, yet no resident could point to a grave or explain whose deaths the land held. The fields still avoid identification, leaving the dead nameless and the ground slightly harder to trust.
Two fields with the name Caldragh indicating a burial ground were in Gubanummera townland (Faughnan c. 1943), but there is no local knowledge of burial. These fields have not being identified. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 17 December, 2015
