What is recorded here
Enclosure in Grevine West, County Kilkenny, appears on the Grand Jury Map of 1812-24 as a bounded place, but by 1839 the OS 6-inch map shows a gravel pit instead. The enclosure may have been opened, dug through, or consumed by extraction within decades. Whatever life or labour occurred inside its borders was overwritten by the hunger of the land for its own stones.
Indicated as an enclosure on the Grand Jury Map, 1812-24. On the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map a gravel pit is indicated at this location and on the later 25-inch OS map.
