What is recorded here
Inishcaltra is a small island graveyard where one plain stone lies flat in the west half, not far from the south wall. The absence of carvings does not diminish it, because the stone still marks a life that ended and a body that rested. People may have walked past it for centuries, reading its silence as a reminder that death comes to everyone, even on an island devoted to prayer.
Situated in the W half of the Saint’s graveyard (CL029-009030-) on Inis Cealtra, 18.9m from the S wall and 7.6m from the W wall. An undecorated recumbent graveslab drawn but not numbered on Macalister’s plan of the graveyard (1916-17, pl. XV).
