Graveslab in Burgagery-Lands West is a graveslab in Burgagery-Lands West, County Tipperary, Ireland. The 1.76m long and 1.17m wide limestone slab lies prostrate in the central portion of the west porch of St. Mary's church. A graveslab lies prostrate roughly in the centre of the central portion of the W porch of St. Mary's church (TS083-019001-). The limestone slab (L 1.76m; Wth 1.17m) has been broken or cut across the top and most of the cross-head is missing. The slab is decorated, in false-relief, with an off-centre cross, the head appears to be a crown-of-thorns or interlace type, beneath which there is an I H S directly over 'MARIA' written in false-relief surmounting the cross-shaft. On either side of the cross-head there is a rosette. The cross-shaft is elaborately carved with four raised vertical band in the upper portion and four 'fluted' bands in the lower portion. The shaft rests on a curving calvary mount with a central depiction in an oval surround of the upper body of a skeleton and the latin words in black letter on either side 'MEMENTO MORI'. There is a plain margin along the base and sinister side. A small portion of the top and bottom dexter side is missing. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
