Marked

Burial ground

What is recorded here

Marked is a buried field in County Limerick where a water font once surfaced during ploughing, hinting that the soil still holds more than grass and stone. The landowner remembers the font emerging from the dirt, but no grave, wall or marker remains visible. What was buried there has either scattered, been taken or sunk beyond recognition. The field keeps its secret without shame, offering only a font and a name.
No evident trace any archaeological feature in field known locally as "Killeen" and which is said to have contained a burial ground. According to the landowner a 'water font' (LI038-147002-) was found some time past when this field was ploughed. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 27 August 2012

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
