What is recorded here

Indicated is a ruined cashel on elevated Clare pasture, its shallow bank and scarp forming a circular trap with no visible entrance. It sits beside Carricklahan cashel, waiting for humans to overwrite the old boundary or remember the shape of the field.

On elevated, rough pasture in a multiperiod field system (CL005-115001-). Indicated on the 1916 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). A poorly preserved circular cashel (int. dims. 21.5m N-S; 23.5m E-W) defined from W to ESE by a grassed-over bank of earth and stone (Wth 2.2-3.3m; int. H 0.4-0.6m; ext. H 0.6-0.8m) and from ESE to W by a scarp (H 0.2-0.7m) with no clear entrance. Carricklahan cashel (CL005-082----) lies c. 120m to the NNE.
