Indicated

On a level terrace in an E-facing slope (between the 300’ and 400’ contour lines) in rough grazing and encroaching scrub, with good views from NNE-SE. Indicated on the first edition (1842) and hachured on the later, Cassini edition (1916) of the OS 6-inch map. A circular area (int. diam. 20m) is defined by a broad, stone and earth bank (Wth 3.3m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.8m). A small mound of earth and stone stands in the W sector. Both the OS 25-inch (1890s) and the current OS map show the monument to NE of centre within a larger oval area (est. diams. c. 60m NE-SW; c. 50m NW-SE) defined by a scarp. On field inspection in 1999, a low scarp was noted partially encircling the monument (from 10-17m away) N-SE, but obscured by overgrowth elsewhere.
