Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Gortnagrelly is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Gortnagrelly, County Sligo, Ireland. The site occupies a slight NNW-facing slope in gently undulating pasture and contains a raised circular area 25m across. An earthen bank 2.1m wide and 0.3m high surrounds the centre, while a 4m wide fosse forms its outer boundary. The N16 main road runs along the outer edge of that fosse from SE to SSW.
Situated on a slight NNW-facing slope in gently undulating pasture. Raised circular area (diam. 25m) enclosed by a bank of earth (Wth 2.1m; int. H 0.3m). At the external foot of the bank is a fosse (Wth 4m). The fosse encloses the site SSE-NNW and is visible only as a slightly wetter area (Wth 4m) at the external base of the bank. From NNW-SE the fosse has been re-cut as a drain. The N edge of a main road (N16) lies along the outer line of the fosse SE-SSW. A break (Wth 4m) in the bank at NNW, with slight trace of a causeway across the fosse, marks the position of the original entrance. There is a modern break (Wth 2m) in the bank at S.
