You can still picture the old woman standing in that narrow doorway, one hand on the chain and the other tucked inside her coat, waiting for the water to rise. The well sits beside the cashel wall like a forgotten chamber, small enough to overlook but deep enough to remember. People may have carried cups there at dawn, or simply watched the surface tremble when the wind changed.

Abutting the external face of the wall of the cashel (KE068-022001-) named 'Cathair Craobh Dearg' and known locally as 'The City', at ENE. This well is a D-shaped area (straight side 2m NNW-SSE; projecting 3.4m to the WSW). The entrance, which has a chain across it, leads into a level concrete interior. The circular well (diam. 0.68m; D 0.29m), filled with spring water, is at ground level. There is a bench against the wall at ENE. According to local information, this well replaced the original holy well (KE068-022007-), which was outside the cashel wall at WSW, c. 1950.
