The enclosure in Gortakeeran is in County Sligo, Ireland. The enclosure in Gortakeeran is a slightly raised trapezoidal area in rough grazing at the base of a SE-facing slope. It measures 28.4m NNE-SSW and is enclosed by an earth and stone bank that is best evident at the SW and SE sides. The interior is level and contains a children's burial ground in the SW quadrant.
In rough grazing, at the base of a SE-facing slope. A slightly raised trapezoidal area (28.4m NNE-SSW; Wth at SSW end 23m; Wth at NNE end 11.5m) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2.4m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.6m). The bank is best evident at the SW and SE sides; elsewhere it is in poor condition and on the S side there is a very low eroded section (L 10m). The interior is level. There is a children's burial ground (SL025-027001-) in the SW quadrant. A slight rise was noted c. 2m outside the E side of the enclosure.
