What is recorded here

Indicated is an overgrown square tower beside Gortanimill House in County Cork, built as a belvedere rather than a home. Its two floors, fireplaces and embattled parapet suggest a place for seeing far, judging weather or marking land. The chamber may have felt less like a room than a lookout where people stood in drafts, watched roads appear through rain and belonged briefly to the horizon.

Overgrown square tower (int: 2.46m E-W; 2.47m N-S), c. 30m NE of Gortanimill House (CO069-005001-). Two-storey with ground floor door in W wall, fireplace in S wall, windows in N and E walls; 2nd-floor door in S wall, fireplace in W wall and windows in N and E walls. Embattled parapet wall.
