Oweynagat is a stone-built cave on the Rathcroghan plateau in County Roscommon that early Irish tradition regarded as a literal door to the underworld. The Morrígan, a pagan goddess associated with war and fate, was said to hold her home there, while magical pigs, cats, and other supernatural beings poured from the opening at Samhain. A low, narrowing passage leads into a deeper natural chamber, making the place feel less like a ruined hollow and more like a threshold still waiting to be crossed.
